我的理解是这样的：
heritage 范围广，不特指某个具体的人，legacy is specific，侧重于个人财产；
the heritage of New England, someone's legacy
heritage侧重于接受的人， legacy侧重于传给你的人
A legacy is what someone leaves behind them for others (after they've gone).
Heritage is what you've received that's come down to you from the past..
