The best definition of inquiry learning is a lesson where students decide the questions, methods and actions they will use to explore a specific topic. Topics are usually very general but the students through their questions and through the facilitation of the teacher narrow the scope of their investigation. At the end of each inquiry (investigations take 9 weeks) students carry out an action that relates to their topic. Actions take on many forms such as posters, talks, presentations, etc. There are no specific requirements as the goal of the class is two fold in that, we are trying to teach students to apply their natural inquiry thinking skills and we are encouraging students to learn about a theme while empowering them to lead the process.   Our first unit of inquiry this semester is "The World and the Universe" and our second unit of inquiry will be "Global Energy Needs" I hope this clarifies the inquiry class to you.
