我们全家也看了很久了, 建议给大家.  以前介绍的西班牙和意大利也是百看不厌. 每周几乎是我们的固定要看的节目.
今天又好像重播了瑞士的国家等文化.

今天孩子回家报告:"终于来了位男老师(英国人)".
回家给我上了一课,能具体说清楚了. 并介绍了英伦三岛.
英国由大不列颠岛和爱尔兰岛东北部及附近许多岛屿组成。而其中大不列颠岛分为英格兰、威尔士和苏格兰三部分，这三者习惯上被称为“英伦三岛”。
（以上也属于国家地理杂志的部份知识）
另外，外教男老师讲了许多开发性知识，如下面一部份内容：　　
1) 零度以下可以用什么词来表达?
2) 摄氏度degree centigrade 的用法
3) 2005年的正确读法
这些东西确实让孩子觉得有意思，他们能学到知识，我们家长也感到高兴．这里感谢学校的安排．
希望能长用这英国老师（男），棒的！.

但千万不要跟团的说.   今天是他回家汇报得最清楚的一天和课程. 我的钱没白费.

How Chipmunk Got His Stripes

A little brown squirrel heard the black bear say , " I can do anything ! "

" you can't keep the sun from rising tomorrow , " said the squirrel .

" I can do anything ! " boasted the bear .

" We'll see , " said the squirrel . he gave the bear a sly smile . The next day , the sun rose . The squirrel laughed at the bear and said , " I told you so !"

   The embarrassed bear was angry . He chased the squirrel . The frightened animal escaped , but not without black claw marks down his back . After that the squirrel was called Chipmunk , which means " the striped one ." That is how Chipmunk got his stripes .

我们昨天选了一本分级读物第5级之四一起阅读。 书名是 << Six Landmarks >> 中文是《六大名胜》，其实世界名胜远远不止这六大。 但是今天所选书里的内容也已经在三星笔试中出现了，可能记得在听力部分的。读读下面的内容够孩子们云里雾里的。爸爸妈妈也来试一试。
刚好选了所谓“六大”中的“一大”给3-5年级学生一起分享。

                                          The Eiffel Tower in France
The French Revolution
On 14 July 1789 , The people of Paris marched to Bastille （巴士底狱）Castle and fought with the King's soldiers to set free prisoners from the dungeons （ 地牢）. This was the beginning of the French Revolution . After the revolution , the French government and a chance to treat all people equally .  
Why Eiffel ?
ONE hundred years later , the French government decided top build a monument to remember the revolution . The government held a competition for the best landmark design. It received 700 entries（参赛作品）. In the end , a design by Gustave Eiffel (1832-1923) won .  Eiffel was born in the east of France . He was a clever student and studied at the famous Central School of Arts and Manufacturing .
Later , He helped to build many buildings , bridges and railways. Some of his buildings can still be seen in France today .
Eiffle was very good at maths . For the Eiffel Tower , he worked out the distance between the tower's 2,500,000 rivets （铆钉）to one-tenth of millimeter ! He also made his monument strong enough to hold up against strong winds .
Eiffel started building his tower on July 1887 . Over one hundred workers put togather the tower's 18,038 iron pieces . To show how important scientists were , Eiffel added the names of 72 scientists to the sides of the tower , Then , on 31 March 1889 , Eiffel Tower was finished.
Tower facts
There are three levels and 1,652 steps to the top of the tower . But you must take an elevator from the second floor.
Until 1930 , the Eiffel Tower was the tallest building in the world , standing at 300meters . Today , its height is 324 meters because of radio and TV aerials （天线）.
Inside the tower , Eiffel added a weather station ,a relegraph and a wind laboratory . And now there is a restaurant , a bar , a museum and a gift shop for the six million people who visit the Eiffle Tower each year.

LS辛苦了。暑假都看了些什么好书？.

就看完了一半Magic Tree House, 共30本。当然都属于我们1-2年级看的书。 你们的年级肯定还看得深了。 请你介绍一下。.

我们没有看magic tree house.
我们看了2本小说，一本是treasure island,一本是dragon rider,不过还没有看完。暑假胖了不少，已经快100斤了，.

Magic Tree House在哪里能买到？我家的英语基础不好，也不知能不能看（新二年级）？.

外文书店有卖的。你可以去当当网或者卓越网上看看，有折扣的。.

不要买错了。照片供参考。

一升二的话， 可以从前面推荐的12本（YELLOW）开始慢慢看。 如果已经看完的话，看后面应当难度不大的吧。　.

网上大多数都是谈考星考级的家长，这里却是在谈选书阅读的。 让我们孩子打好基础并作长远计划。 （以前也还看见过HELEN爸的英文升级专题）。 其实考级考星已经没有太大的意义，阅读才是孩子将来自己的东西。谢谢！ 确实让孩子学到不少知识和乐趣。.

基础上去了，考什么都容易，对伐？而且我一直都觉得阅读是突击不出来的，语法是可以突击的。所以低年级的同学加强阅读，而且这些书都很好，真正的愉快学习。等到3，4年级考个三星，四星笔试，就会是水到渠成的事情。不过口语，还是要家长自己想办法。考星考章虽然有点无聊，可是我们又有什么办法呢。哎。。。.

其实外面可以选的书还是有的，你可以选一些OXFORD的读物，听一些家长説还有磁带配的。
大班到一二年级都是可以选一些带插图和部分句子的儿童读物开始。 还有读物内容选合适儿童阅读兴趣为基础。开始时你家长或老师带着读，以后就可以逐步放手了。

很确切的！ 其实用考星考级来检验平时的阅读学习，大家就比较容易接受了。

Magic Tree House的书Random House Books for Young Readers和Random House Children's Books有啥区别？.

主人翁还以ANNIE and JACK 为主的。 二者区别真的没有研究过。 So Sorry !

为回答119# ， 我特地找回我小孩刚刚起步学时，妈妈和他一起读的小册子。 现在看来有点像一年级“七外”的MAGIC BOX 一书模样。
九月一日要进校的小朋友可以用来参考阅读一下， 就是没有磁带录音。
一年级“颜色”一课一定会有的，不过就是课文内容选择不同，带孩子读的时候要带有语音语调。读起来就朗朗上口了。
题目是《 ＫＩＴＥＳ》

在英语阅读方面虽然自己水平有限，起步也晚。但还是希望能跟着你们的脚印渐渐地积累一些终身受用的东西。下面有几个自己和孩子在起步阅读的时候遇到的困惑，恳望得到上面各位BBMM和楼主的指教，不胜感谢！
1.你们在开始时孩子每天坚持多少的阅读量？比如上面这种适合小一孩子用的书。
2.遇到生词生字的时候怎么办？告诉孩子中文意思吗?在整个阅读过程中需要给孩子译文吗？还是只看图片猜意思？
3.通常一本原版书的阅读是读完了就放下，还是不断地重复读，直至能够复述或背诵？
4.对于文中出现的新单词要求孩子读熟记住吗？还是在以后的阅读中通过不断重复出现来认识它？自己尝试过，前者感觉进度会很慢，而且破坏了孩子阅读的情趣，后者又发现孩子掌握不了新词汇，重复出现的时候往往还是不认识。

1.家长可以陪同阅读。孩子感兴趣的话，可以一天一本。
2.遇到生词，最好英英解释，然后造句（实在解释不清楚，用中文也没有太大关系）。不用解释太多，可以根据图片猜意思。如果生词太多，说明不适合小孩。
3.像这样的书，建议反复阅读。
4.在反复阅读中间，新单词也就自然而然的记住了。
另外，我个人觉得，科普类的书，会比较缺乏连贯性，生词也会比较多，不过也有小朋友很喜欢阅读科普类的书籍，可惜我家儿子不是，QFL的同学，有一套叫oxford story tree的书学校会在上外教课的时候用的，其实这套书很好。而且有配套的MP3。非常适合阅读起步的孩子。但是对于2年级和以上要开始考章考级的孩子，如果光是阅读这套书的话，有点太简单。2年级的孩子，可以开始阅读chapter book。可是原版的书，太薄又太贵，带孩子去书店泡着吧。一个下午一本，最起码的，呵呵！
以上是个人的一点点心得。.

在129# 上补点。
1.家长可以陪同阅读。孩子感兴趣的话，可以一天一本。
* 其实量根据小孩喜爱程度可以不同的，可以少也可以几本小册子（如果他不放手的话）

红色巴士 重现伦敦街景 ( 确实做得不错)
    虽然只有8分钟的表演时间，但是伦敦奥组委却把典型的伦敦街景和4年后将出现在那里的奥运风紧紧融合在一起，描绘出了一个令人向往的奥运场景。在交给伦敦的8分钟里，我们首先从现场的大屏幕上看到伦敦标志性的街景，与此同时被伦敦人尊称为“马路主人”、辛勤运行了50余年的红色双层巴士缓缓驶入北京奥运会闭幕式现场，此时现场弥漫起了“伦敦雾”，散发出历史感与现代感兼具的英伦风情。实际上，红色双层巴士已经早在3年前就已经退出了历史舞台，但此时现身，却让人们在北京看到伦敦昔日最为著名的风景线。随后，3名英国自行车队队员伴着红色巴士环绕“鸟巢”。此时，他们不再是竞速赛场的奥运选手，而是公园路上的普通骑行者。还有舞者扮演起排队等候的乘客、过马路的行人，在变换的乐曲中，展示平凡而多样的伦敦生活。

张艺谋：8分钟创意很棒
     雅典奥运会闭幕式上，北京以“8分钟”演出登台，宣告奥运会进入北京周期。四年一个轮回，在北京奥运会的闭幕式上，伦敦同样以“8分钟”演出向世界发出邀请。
    当年雅典奥组委在悉尼奥运会闭幕式上的亮相非常简单，只是由10多名身着白色服装的“女祭司”协助进行了简单的接旗。而从北京奥运会开始，主办城市对这短短几分钟的展示机会越来越重视，希望在这8分钟里传递更多来自下届奥运会的信息。

London is amazing !  Judy finds everything intertesing : the double-decker buses , the taxis , and even the telephone booths ! She takes lots of photos .
Judy takes a taxi to her friend's place . She learns that London taxi drivers are among the best in the world and it's not easy to become one .  Most taxi drivers study for three years to pass the test and 75% of those who start drop out (退出) ! But she never knew that  London taxi were so expensvie . A 10KM ride costs her $12.80 . That's about  RMB180!
Judy learns from her friend that there is a big celebration going on in the streets. It is called the Notting Hill Carnival .  
People are dressed up and they dance through the streets in parades . There is music and cheering everywhere .
Judy has never seen a carnival before . She feels lucky to be in London at the right time.

可惜的是2006年小孩去LONDON也没看到Notting Hill Carnival 。 所以就找了同样的图片解释给他听。.

Today， more than 50,000 people visit the palace each year as guests at banquets and royal parties . Each summer , the royal family goes to Scotland. When they are away ,  about half of Buckingham Palace is open to the public. People from all over the world come to see the famous paintings and furniture in the palace .

这里的Buckingham Palace is open to ......  注意在三星中常考到。“ is open” 而不是 “opened to ......”

Changing of the Guard
Jude saw a parade at Buckingham Palace this morning. It's called the Changing of the Guard. It's fascinating. The guards waer interesting uniforms with red coats and tall hats. Since 1660 , the kings
and queens of England have had these special guards to protect them.
The ceremony lasted about 45 minutes. The new guards marched to the palace with a band to replace the old guards. They did this in a colourful ceremony with music. It's interesting that they played both traditional music and popular songs.

Most of the computer and video games designers are males.  Not surprisingly, so are most of the players. But as Bob Doughty reports, the industry says it wants to get more females interested and involved in its games.
      The Entertainment Software Association says thirty-nine percent of players are women. The average age of all players is twenty-nine. But experts say females enjoy different kinds of games than males do. Males generally like computer games with competition and some kind of violence. Females like games with cooperation and social interaction.
      One series of games that many girls and women do like to play is The Sims. Sims are simulated people. Players guide groups of these electronic people through different situations and decide what they will do. There are game titles like The Sims House Party and The Sims Hot Date.
      The company that produces them, Electronic Arts, says at least fifty percent of the players are women. A spokeswoman says the games are about building relationships, so they appeal to females. They must appeal to lots of players: The Sims is the best-selling computer game of all time..

这是他2006年去LONDON 时照的， 所以在读Six landmarks 中LONDON一章，这些游览知识积累起了一定的作用。我们还有许多类似的照片，刚好和书中的其它介绍可以配上用，原书中的照片复印已经模糊不清了。
喜欢看你用英文写，不要改这个风格（至少在这里）。

The Secret World of Ants
     Ants can be seen everywhere. They have no bones but their bodies are hard and rigid. They are covered in a skin, called the cuticle, which is as hard as a shell . Ants are very light, but they can pull an object 70times heavier than themselves!
    Ants are social animals and they live in large, well-organized societies. Each one has a clear role in the society. Queens lay eggs. Males mate with queens. After mating , queens tear off their wings and eat them before returning to the nest. Only future queens and male ants are born with wings.
    Workers are all females. They do all kinds of jobs such as building nests and raising the young. Honey ants
collect honeydew. They store it in their corps or stomachs . When they cannot find other food, they regurgitate
the honeydew to feed the others.
