StarBugs One-of-a-kind English Literature & Arts Program By Teacher Maia
(一)
We will have some time each week to read, write and thinking about an interesting quote.
我们将每周阅读、抄写并思考一条有趣的名言,例如:
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

This class will facilitate student’s critical thinking development, bridging diverse mediums and inspire new ways of creating relationships through the study of art and literature.
本课程旨在通过对艺术和文学课程的学习来提高学生的批判性思维能力、跨媒体的融会贯通能力、激励他们探索建立人际关系的新方法。
I will ask of all students to keep a journal for the period of the class. In this journal they are invited to write their dreams, their ideas, draw as well as take note in class. After each class, I will have them reflect on a question to be answered in their journal at home and prepare for the next class.
我会要求每一位小学员在课程期间带一本笔记本,用于记录他们的梦想和创意,涂鸦画画,或做课堂笔记。每堂课结束时,我将要求小学员们在笔记本上写下一个需要回家去解答的问题,并为下一堂课做好准备。

Creativity and well being are intricately interrelated. Creativity flows out of one body with more ease if one’s body is healthy and when one’s soul feels deeply happy.
创造力和福祉是唇齿相依的。当一个人身体健康,心情极其愉快时,创造力的发挥就要容易得多。
We will begin each class with 5-10 minutes of Yoga to wake up our minds. Daily yoga helps connect one’s body and mind.
我们每堂课开始时还将集体做5-10分钟的瑜伽来唤醒我们的心灵。每天坚持做瑜伽将有助于我们身心合一。

Critical thinking: What is imagination?
批判性思维:什么是想象力?
We will use the blackboard to create a visual map of all the words we can relate to imagination.
我们将在黑板上绘制一个涉及所有有关想象力的词汇的关联图:
Imagination, dream, color, fairy tale, ghost, supernatural, invention, idea, texture, shapes, art, music, painting, sculpture, film, poetry, creation, creative process, dance, child like, love, life, story, myth, magic, magician, etc…

We will look at the website and discuss and describe the artwork. We will continue to add words to our imagination mapping process.

Learning to express ideas orally and in writing
学习口头和写作表达能力
Students are invited to write a short paragraph about one artwork from the website we will choose as a class. Student will write a description of the artwork (in their journal), how the image makes them feel, what it makes them think about.
我们将一起从就上述网站中选出一件艺术作品,我将邀请每位小学员在笔记本里就该作品写一段话,描述作品,记录感受和感想。
Once students are done with their written description of the artwork, each of them will present their work in front of the class. This is a good time for individual feedback in order to help each students create a more sophisticated description.
然后,每位学员将向全班同学陈述自己对该作品的描述。每位学员将籍此从其他学员那里得到反馈意见,并进一步润色、完善自己的描述。

As we learn about interesting words we will look at their etymology. Etymology is the study of the history of words — when they entered a language, from what source, and how their form and meaning have changed over time.
随着我们不断学习到新的有趣词汇,我们将进一步学习词源。所谓词源学就是对词的起源的研究,即每个词首次进入到语言体系时是从哪儿起源的?如何形成的?其涵义又是如何与时俱进的?
