这次阅读的难度和范围都升级了, 内容包含: 中东问题, 暑假作业评论, APOLLO , ROOTS & SHOOTS 环境项目, 索马里海盗, 环保问题, 奥运, 当今时政,社会起源, 医学等等.   我也不知道如何评价这次阅读选材上飞跃和变革!.

前不久,我和孩子一起读一点下面的阅读资料(部份) , 没想到在这次辅导书中的" GROWING HOPE " 也选入了点滴,
内容极其相同.  我以前也谈过OBAMA , 这次也有了.  
有点晕的.

Roots & Shoots

In 1991, world-renowned primatologist Jane Goodall started Roots & Shoots, a program designed to educate youths about environmental issues and humanitarian values with a special focus on group interaction.  Roots & Shoots unites those who hold certain values in common: love for animals, care for the community, and devotion to protecting the environment.  The program originated in Tanzania with only 16 students; now Roots & Shoots has expanded to 100 countries with a global network of 8,000 groups. In China, there are Roots & Shoots offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Nanchang, and Chengdu. Our Mission: To foster respect and compassion for all living things, to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs, and to inspire each individual to take action to make the world a better place for animals, the environment, and the human community.  We believe that change is already taking place!.

感觉科普英语有点偏重于男孩..

是啊, 这次变革跳出了原来常规的自然科学.   我也没有看到过这次低年级的辅导书, 没有评价.  有一点感觉今年的考试要重新洗牌了.
其实对于将来的高低年级来说, 将来阅读范围可以放大点, 没有局限更好.

估计培训班老师自己也要先补好这些课, 孩子们就当是挑战一下极限咯.  书上内容也是泛谈, 需要补充的.

We provide encouragement, training, project management training, networking, environmental materials, speakers, and a website to help the students achieve success in their project work. 哪些单词没有?  一定要给上下文的..

我们以前看的自然科学已经过时, 呵呵.  但是今年谈的这些热点知识还未被系统地编辑出版( 可能我没有看到) .
也想请这里的网友和高手推荐一下..

之前可以讲一些背景知识给孩子听听,  更可以让孩子的父亲充当这个时势政治讲解员的角色..

美国这类书的出版几乎和当今社会发生的一切是同步的, 更无需翻译过来.  但引进到中国出版肯定要晚一拍的.
这样的书一定很吸引孩子眼球的, 主要还是图文并茂, 可以将孩子先引进科学的大门.

估计是英国式发音.  我看了一下几书的目录, 内容多讲英国背景的, 有些很深的.  小学阶段的学生还不能理解或看懂,词汇量不小.
主要内容也是以前发生的事情(件)的录音整理编辑, 如果是对学生长期发展的话, 听读都是有帮助的.  
另外, VOA 也有类似的出版, 可以同时听.  将来一定会爆发的.

听说有补充办法了, 到11月会有个网上链接的.  家长自己下载.  但还是要再看他们最后的方案, 我也去投诉去了..

是的, 我们也没有拿到.   看来效率很低的, 这次连CD 都有问题了, 我们主要是靠听来挤出时间的, 这次晕的!.

今年有科普培训老师也质疑(高年级组)有高中的阅读程度. 她们自己也分工备课了, 老师自己马上充电.   
昨天碰到H 爸, 他还要好, 笑眯眯曰: " 好, 可以拉开差距" .        

所以这次不轻松啊!  从这届开始含金量可能猛增, 有绩优嫌疑!  一张科普奖= 一张奥数奖(中环OR 小机灵) ???

   However, 37 years later, the boy made history . Obama became the first black president in American history .
  Obama was born in 1961 , to an African father and a white American woman from a small town in the U.S.  He grew up in Indonesia and Hawaii. This unusual background made him wonder who he was.  He once turned to alcohol ( 酒精) to help forget this question. With the help from his friends, Obama finally turned his life around at college. His hard work made him a star at Harvard. Later, he became the third black senator ( 参议员) in American history .
   During his race to the highest post in the U.S., Obama talked about his background. He called for a United States of American , rather than a white American or a black America .
   “Obama’s success has made Martin Luther King’s dream come true . That is : A man should not be judged by the color of this skin , but by the content of his character, ” wrote ABC news.

Tower to Mark " Earth Hour "
Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower will turn off its lights on March 28 to mark " Earth Hour ".  The lights on the iconic building will be out from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  
So what is "Earth Hour ?"  It is an annual international event created by the WWF ( World Widlife Foud ) . It asks households and businesses to tune off non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness of climate change. The event began in Sydney in 2007 , when 2 million people switched off their lights. This year , about 1,000 cities in 80 countries have already committed to taking part in it .
On that day , many iconic building such as the Sydney Opera House , The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and London's City Hall will turn off their lights.  
Throughout China , Beijing , Shanghai and HongKong will participate in Earth Hour 2009 . On March 28, a live radio program on " Earth Hour " , which will involve cities in three different time zones , will be broadcast from the Oriental Pearl TV Tower .
