一升二的话， 可以从前面推荐的12本（YELLOW）开始慢慢看。 如果已经看完的话，看后面应当难度不大的吧。　.

其实外面可以选的书还是有的，你可以选一些OXFORD的读物，听一些家长説还有磁带配的。
大班到一二年级都是可以选一些带插图和部分句子的儿童读物开始。 还有读物内容选合适儿童阅读兴趣为基础。开始时你家长或老师带着读，以后就可以逐步放手了。

为回答119# ， 我特地找回我小孩刚刚起步学时，妈妈和他一起读的小册子。 现在看来有点像一年级“七外”的MAGIC BOX 一书模样。
九月一日要进校的小朋友可以用来参考阅读一下， 就是没有磁带录音。
一年级“颜色”一课一定会有的，不过就是课文内容选择不同，带孩子读的时候要带有语音语调。读起来就朗朗上口了。
题目是《 ＫＩＴＥＳ》

1.家长可以陪同阅读。孩子感兴趣的话，可以一天一本。
* 其实量根据小孩喜爱程度可以不同的，可以少也可以几本小册子（如果他不放手的话）
2.遇到生词，最好英英解释，然后造句（实在解释不清楚，用中文也没有太大关系）。不用解释太多，可以根据图片猜意思。如果生词太多，说明不适合小孩。
*因为是图文并茂的书，相信小孩的理解力的。当然能有条件做英文解释为最上了。
3.像这样的书，建议反复阅读。
* 时间多，朗朗上口为上策。 但书多，看了再说，以后再复习。不要影响到孩子的积极性为上。
以带孩子入门为先导。
4.在反复阅读中间，新单词也就自然而然的记住了。
* 读书不要背着负担，时间长了，反复中得以巩固的。

红色巴士 重现伦敦街景 ( 确实做得不错)
    虽然只有8分钟的表演时间，但是伦敦奥组委却把典型的伦敦街景和4年后将出现在那里的奥运风紧紧融合在一起，描绘出了一个令人向往的奥运场景。在交给伦敦的8分钟里，我们首先从现场的大屏幕上看到伦敦标志性的街景，与此同时被伦敦人尊称为“马路主人”、辛勤运行了50余年的红色双层巴士缓缓驶入北京奥运会闭幕式现场，此时现场弥漫起了“伦敦雾”，散发出历史感与现代感兼具的英伦风情。实际上，红色双层巴士已经早在3年前就已经退出了历史舞台，但此时现身，却让人们在北京看到伦敦昔日最为著名的风景线。随后，3名英国自行车队队员伴着红色巴士环绕“鸟巢”。此时，他们不再是竞速赛场的奥运选手，而是公园路上的普通骑行者。还有舞者扮演起排队等候的乘客、过马路的行人，在变换的乐曲中，展示平凡而多样的伦敦生活。

     雅典奥运会闭幕式上，北京以“8分钟”演出登台，宣告奥运会进入北京周期。四年一个轮回，在北京奥运会的闭幕式上，伦敦同样以“8分钟”演出向世界发出邀请。

London is amazing !  Judy finds everything intertesing : the double-decker buses , the taxis , and even the telephone booths ! She takes lots of photos .
Judy takes a taxi to her friend's place . She learns that London taxi drivers are among the best in the world and it's not easy to become one .  Most taxi drivers study for three years to pass the test and 75% of those who start drop out (退出) ! But she never knew that  London taxi were so expensvie . A 10KM ride costs her $12.80 . That's about  RMB180!
Judy learns from her friend that there is a big celebration going on in the streets. It is called the Notting Hill Carnival .  
People are dressed up and they dance through the streets in parades . There is music and cheering everywhere .
Judy has never seen a carnival before . She feels lucky to be in London at the right time.

Changing of the Guard
Jude saw a parade at Buckingham Palace this morning. It's called the Changing of the Guard. It's fascinating. The guards waer interesting uniforms with red coats and tall hats. Since 1660 , the kings
and queens of England have had these special guards to protect them.
The ceremony lasted about 45 minutes. The new guards marched to the palace with a band to replace the old guards. They did this in a colourful ceremony with music. It's interesting that they played both traditional music and popular songs.

      One series of games that many girls and women do like to play is The Sims. Sims are simulated people. Players guide groups of these electronic people through different situations and decide what they will do. There are game titles like The Sims House Party and The Sims Hot Date.
      The company that produces them, Electronic Arts, says at least fifty percent of the players are women. A spokeswoman says the games are about building relationships, so they appeal to females. They must appeal to lots of players: The Sims is the best-selling computer game of all time..

The Secret World of Ants
     Ants can be seen everywhere. They have no bones but their bodies are hard and rigid. They are covered in a skin, called the cuticle, which is as hard as a shell . Ants are very light, but they can pull an object 70times heavier than themselves!
    Ants are social animals and they live in large, well-organized societies. Each one has a clear role in the society. Queens lay eggs. Males mate with queens. After mating , queens tear off their wings and eat them before returning to the nest. Only future queens and male ants are born with wings.
    Workers are all females. They do all kinds of jobs such as building nests and raising the young. Honey ants

Snowy Owl

      Snowy owls are almost all white with just a few dark spots .  Males are whiter than females. They are most active during the day.
    Unlike other birds. whose eyes are on the sides of their head , owls have large eyes that face forwards. Snowy owls have yellow eyes and very good vision , but they cannot move their eyes as humans can . So in order to look around, they have to move their head , which has large of movement of about 270 degree.

我认为 科普读物比那个"不实用"的三星笔试更有价值.   如果时间有的多, 并不矛盾.  
一个是应试成分多点, 一个科普知识多点.   前者临时博一下靠妈妈(考好统统忘记), 后者长期积累靠爸爸(还可以记得点).  所以后者是你的责任区.  
其实上父亲在科普知识面上的兴趣辅导对小孩将来很管用的.  前面些书籍3年级下完全有能力阅读了, 我发觉复赛20-30%的题目多可能在这些范围内出现(自己的感觉).  我自己还找到其它一些资料想给孩子阅读和解释, 可惜我们时间根本不够.  目前也很是无奈!
如有不困惑,见面时还可以讨论.

我发觉这次复赛中考的SIM CITY GAME 在楼上152 贴中也涉及到, 还有就是前面提到的动物篇经常性考到(refer 163# ) .
在这里加一本给孩子们读,了解一下电玩游戏乐趣.  如果孩子玩过香港海洋公园或迪斯尼,那体会就更深的.

为增加孩子们对世界珍稀动物的了解和兴趣, 我曾在99 帖推荐< Going On Safari >  读本.  最近又看见网友在肯尼亚的国家野生动物公园拍了非常漂亮的PP .  我还是上传给小朋友们看看.  真是太激动人心 !

当然, 这次5年级会有优势.   你们也非常重视科普英语阅读嘛!  
以前在学校时, 我自己还专门报科普英语一门课, 老师课外就配VOA 录音给大家听, 涉及到美国文化, 领先科技, 医疗, 教育, 社会, 天气, 宇航等.   现在我太太也将VOA 给孩子听, 虽然有些单词是第一次听过, 但是可以慢慢熟悉起来.
这种语音环境很有感觉.   建议TRY 一下..

Key to success ( 本周我又选了一篇阅读供小学高年级3-5读读,当然自己也一起和孩子读过了. 这也是基于孩子在了解本书和作者情况下, 让他了解 preseverance 的意义 . 重点是学习备注中用法, 至少你要听说过 , 这也是伴随着文化的学习法 )

一位小学英语教师写了一篇体会,我觉得很符合我常常围绕谈的文化这东西,这使我更明确了我们每次出国探访的目的性, 其意义深远.

                                                                                         浅谈小学英语教学中的文化渗入
在美国有这样一个几乎人人皆知的句子：“When you’re down，you are not necessarily out．” 还记得，在大学里，初读此句时，能理解的大概，但是是模糊的，原因是不了解这句话的文化背景。通过教师的解释，才真正理解，原来这是一句拳击术语。在拳击比赛中拳击手如果被对方击倒，裁判数到10还不能起来则被判输。但在很多情况下不等裁判数到10，倒地的拳击手就能爬起来再战。因此，这句话的表层意思是：当你被人击倒了，并不意味着输了这场比赛。其寓意为：当你遇到挫折，并不一定丧失了成功的机会。可见，了解文化背景是理解语言的前提。美国语言学家E.Sapir说：“语言的背后是有东西的， 而且语言不能离开文化而存在。”可见，语言与文化是密不可分的。语言不仅是文化的载体，同时又有着丰富的文化内涵。因此，应与的学习，也不仅仅是语音、词汇、语法或听、说、读、写，更应该是英语与英美文化的融合。所以，培养学生的跨文化意识，对学生学好外语是相当重要的。也能提高学生对所学知识的理解。

如何使文化能有效地渗入课堂教学中呢？通过学习，我觉得可以从以下方面入手，改进自己的文化课堂。

一、从词汇方面入手

词汇是英语学习的基石，就像中文承载了5000年的历史文化以下，英语词汇也是英美文化载荷量最大的成分。所以在平时教学中应注意介绍英语词汇的文化意义这有助于对英语词语更好的理解，以防学生单纯从词汇本身做主观评价。

比如在教学colour系列单词时，我比较颜色在中西方人心目中的不同含义：如“white”(白色)在西方代表“圣洁”、“高贵”，而在中国就意味着“疾病”、“死亡”。又如 “red” 一词，无论在英语国家还是在中国，红色往往与庆祝活动或喜庆日子有关，尤其在中国，红色象征革命和社会主义等积极意义，但英语中 “red” 的还意味着危险状态或使人生气，如在商业英语中的 “in the red”，就表示亏损、负债的意思。另外还有一些有趣的习语 “green hand”意为“新手”，“white night”意为“不眠之夜”，“yellow boy”意为“金币”，“black tea”（红茶）等。

另外还可以从谚语入手。

比如在教授“dog”这个单词时，就可以把中文和英文进行比较。狗在英美国家，是非常亲密的动物，人们对它十分的喜爱，所以有“Love me, love my dog.”（爱乌及乌）。

无论是常用语还是谚语，都是些孩子学过的单词，但是组合在一起却是别样的意思。孩子们会觉得很神气，特别是在猜测意思的过程中，他们脑子都懂了起来，也让学生逐步改变中文式的思维方式，慢慢学会用英语的思维表达自己的想法和观点，避免望文生义。

二、从句型方面入手

在课堂教学过程中，每天的日常交流，是渗入西方文化知识的好机会。比如，要求孩子掌握的“What’s your name?”，其实在西方，是很少会有人这么问对方的，因为这样会显得很突兀，像是在审问。另外还有“How old are you?”，这些比较私人的问题，可以告诉学生，如何在西方，可以婉转的回答：“Sorry, it’s a secret.”。因为西方人认为年龄、收入、去向等属于个人隐私，是不愿意以这些内容为话题的。特别是妇女，她们都希望自己青春永驻对自己的年龄秘，所以对年龄的问题总是不愿回答的。

其次，在赞美孩子出色的完成某项任务时，让学生试着如何回答人家的赞美，由此可以引出另一个文化差异。中国人总是含蓄的面对赞美，谦虚地说：“哪里，哪里。”而西方人则适应了人与人间的赞美，这已经成为一种很平常的事情，所以在面对赞美时，总是回答：“Thank you.”

在鼓励孩子的时候，也可以用谚语入手。面对胆小不回答得孩子，可以在黑板上写下：No man is born wise or learned． 孩子们就产生了很多问题，然后，教师就可以从单词开始解释，最终推出意思“没有生而知之者。”由师生交流引出中西文化的差异，并进一步拓展，更能使学生留下深刻的印象。

三、从节日方面入手

在教学过程中，每当有孩子生日，我总会在课前的准备活动时，让大家一起唱Happy Birthday的歌曲，同时说点希望和祝福。同样的，也可以在西方节日的时候，利用课前，或者临近下课的时间，作为让学生的放松，介绍今天是西方的什么日子，西方人会做些什么。如果正巧可以利用到教学中，那么可以营造出节日的气氛，单纯的利用PPT，学生其实感受不到很多的真实地场景，所以可以播放一些短片，或者带些小装饰品到课堂，然后让学生自己表演，或者做小贺卡，同时播放歌曲，让学生在愉悦的氛围中结束这堂课。这样他们能更直观地接触到西方的生活习惯。特别是可以利用英语拓展课，作为课堂知识的延伸，如Halloween、Christmas、Thanksgiving Day等等，还可以融入情感的教育，然后比较中国人过节的习俗，这样能让孩子产生兴趣，同时，学习到更多。

四、从课外活动入手

教室是学生待的最久的地方，所以也应该充分利用教室的资源。

首先，可以在教室后开辟一个学习园地，放些小故事，比如对西方人影响甚大的《圣经》，这些故事就像中国的童话故事一样，让孩子们知道一些俗语的由来，到底是怎么回事；其次，还可以利用教室后的图书角。让孩子们带些家里的英语书或图片，让更多的同学，享受到这些资源；最后，还可以利用一些时间，然孩子们看卡通片，特别是迪斯尼中的电影，很多卡通电影里都反映着西方人的人生态度，小动物们，也传承着西方人的生活习惯。在看完之后，通过让学生们进行讨论，表演，学习动画片里的英语歌曲等等活动，另外，还可以玩些西方孩子经常玩得小游戏，比如bingo游戏，让孩子们领略英美国家的风土人情、语言行为，体会英美文化与汉文化的差异，寓教于乐。

语言与文化唇齿相依，学习第二语言就是学习第二种文化。因此，重视课堂文化的渗入，任重而道远。
