我：We are going to learn about the environment and you can share some ideas with me about some things you can do to protect our planet.
女儿：Actually, I am becoming concerned about the world we live in. Humans and animals are in danger.
我：How come they are in danger?
女儿：Because the world is heating up. The temperatures are rising and the sea levels are rising as the ice melts.
我：Exactly. The more energy we use, the more the world will heat up. Can you think of a few ways that you can help?
女儿：Always put rubbish in the bin, not on the floor. Switch off the lights and air con when you leave a room. If possible, try to walk or cycle.
我：Good. Do you know 3R's to protect our world? They are Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
What do they mean?
女儿： Reuse means to use things more than once, like you use shopping bags over and over again instead of throwing them away. Recycle means taking old stuff and making them into new things, like recycled paper. Reduce I don't know how to explain.
我：Reduce simply means to reduce the amount of waste you have.
