Silom city ,1.5K
72 Soi Prachum 22 Silom Road
Location: Close to (2) Skytrain stations AND Pier 1 (Oriental)
By boat(AO NANG到RAILAY公共摆渡要80猪一个人,我们人多好像也是包长尾船便宜哦)
Rai Leh West and Ton Sai are only 10 minutes away while the less developed Had Yao (Long Beach) is 25 minutes away by long-tail. Boats leave constantly from the east end of the beach and charge a flat 80 baht/person during the day, 100 baht/person at night (after 18:00 hrs). There is no pier so expect to get at least your feet wet, probably more. Long-tail boat from Aonang is available at all seasons but subject to the weather permits. In case of the monsoon season (May - Oct), getting to Railay from Ao Nammao is recommended.
There are also public ferry services to Ko Phi Phi and Ko Lanta (usually twice daily), for which any travel agent will be happy to sell you tickets at around 200 baht/person. During the monsoon season, the ferry runs once day.
Boats from Ko Lanta now arrive at the new jetty, from there take a taxi (350 baht), or local bus to Krabi (50 baht) and then on to Ao Nang (40 baht).
[edit] By songthaew
There is a Songthaew(shared pick-up truck / taxi) service to Ao Nang from Krabi town, which runs throughout daylight hours in low season and up to 10PM in high season. The fare is 50 baht and they can be expected every 15-20 minutes. Songthaews are colour coded according to destination so make sure if you are coming to Ao Nang from Krabi you get on a white one.
To find one of these white ones in Krabi, go to the Vogue shopping Centre in Maharaj Rd (the main road). They go from here and cost B50. They apparently go also from the bus station, although the Writer went in the reverse direction and it went into Krabi town first, then to the bus station, for B80.
When coming from Krabi, the songteow taken by the Writer came along the beach before climbing the hill at the end. Going back to Krabi it was the opposite direction to get to town and the bus station.
Takola Restaurant
Krabi Town may not be known for its culinary inventiveness but it does have a few Aces up its sleeve, one of which is Takola, a chic eatery on the outskirts of the town. Takola is a relative newcomer to Krabi’s dining scene and while it trades tradition for trendiness and old-fashioned charm for chic it still delivers great Thai and Chinese food the way it should be prepared. If you rent a motorbike in Krabi and want to know what you can do for a short half-day trip Crystal Pond (Morakot) is an ideal place to see. It’s a pond from natural spring water. It is about 40 km from Krabi town center towards Khlong Thom district (southeast) and it’s rather easy to find if you keep to the main roads and don’t follow any sign that says “short-cut” like we did the first time we tried to go! We were lost and didn’t get to see the pond at all!
There is a 200 baht charge for adult tourists and a nominal fee for any Thai guest you might be bringing along to the Emerald Pool – 20 baht. Don’t get upset if you don’t see them charging ANY of the Thai people except the ones that the farangs (foreigners) are with because that is just business as usual. At Huay Toh waterfall in Krabi one time this really got to me as my girlfriend and myself were the ONLY two people to pay out of approximately 50 people we saw walk by the gate without paying. Mai pen rai is your best attitude because though it’s infuriating, it’s just the way it is here…
So, pay your fee and take a walk through the woods. Some of the walk is on a wooden boardwalk up over the marsh and it’s a nice nature walk, not far at all – less than 1km I think.
The pond is gorgeous, very clear water and there will be a hundred people or more swimming if it’s the weekend (kids mostly). If you go in the morning on a weekday, you’re better off numbers-wise as you’ll have less than 10-20 people there. There were about 10 people for us until the afternoon when school must have let out early and busloads of crazy Thai kids came! It was fun watching them have fun – but for us the fun of swimming in a relaxing pool and putting our head under the stream was over.
This is a really cool place and worth the drive and even the 200 baht. There are a couple of smaller pools you can enjoy there, but the main attraction is the Crystal Pond or Crystal Lagoon that you see pictured here..
