JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE:production Manager
REPORTS TO AND DESCRIPTION AGREED BY: General Manager
JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to manage and control all activities within the production facility, allocating the resources necessary to meet customer orders on a timely basis. Specific job responsibilities include supervising and appraising the production work force, warehousing, maintenance and safety in operations with a focus on problem solving, organization, and economic impact. Maintain an emphasis on health, safety, environment, quality, and continuous improvement. Act as a resource for employees in carrying out both daily activities and team-based problem solving efforts. Keep employee focus on the total manufacturing and supply chain process with specific attention to housekeeping, documentation, teamwork, and efficiency in servicing customers, internal and external.
Additionally this position will approve manufacturing procedures and equipment selection with careful consideration for such elements as safety, quality, ease of manufacture, and economic justification.
This position would receive training in German Plant.
This position would help to have plant setup with installation project initially.
DIMENSIONS:

KEY RESULT AREAS:
• Schedule and control production activities and procedures.
• Coordinate corrective and preventative maintenance procedures.
• Guarantee that industrial activities are following all established procedures (quality, good manufacturing practices, HSE) during all stages of production and storage.
• Prepare and revise procedures as appropriate.
• Coordinate inventory levels, inventory counting procedures, and inventory management.
• Enforce the use of all relevant HSE standards and regulations, including hazard communications and transport regulations.
• Meet shipment dates as requested by customers
• Stipulate industrial investments needed to achieve company goals
• Manage industrial costs and help in coordination of costing system
• Identify training needs of operations group and accomplish training
• Support site in obtaining ISO 14001, ISO 9001, TS certifications.
ORGANIZATION:
Report directly to General Manager
MAIN WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
• General Manager ad hoc meetings to discuss operations, activities and responsibilities.
• Site HSE staff and Global HSE Manager; ad hoc contact to discuss, assist, audit, and provide information or take action on HSE and regulatory matters.
• Manager Global Engineering Services: ad hoc contact on engineering, equipment design, and facility design issues as related to HSE and regulatory matters.
• Production manager in Pfinder Germany ad hoc meetings on production processes, production and quality procedures, and work flow, logistics, inventory management, costing
• Daily meetings with direct reports on operational activities
• Interface with government and park officials as needed.
• Sales management: ad hoc meetings to discuss customer needs and supply chain
• Interface with consultants and outside contractors as needed
PROBLEM-SOLVING / COMPLEXITY:
The most difficult and/or complex features of this job include:
• Using process and quality management tools to improve all aspects of the operations and introduce site to benchmarked processes, systems, and procedures.
• Managing an effective supply chain to keep inventories low with many materials being imported and while at the same time meeting customers’ needs for product
• Managing the production of an ever changing product range with many products and pack sizes in a make to order environment with short lead times
KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
• Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry or engineering.
• Good command of English (written and spoken). Grasp German language skill would be a high preference.
• Living in Qingpu area or close area would be a high preference.
• 5 years experience in manufacturing or blending chemicals
• Experience in batch manufacturing
• Experience with quality systems and HSE standards and procedures
• User level knowledge of computers and software
• Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership skills..
