A 3-year-old boy began to learn English@home
My 3-year-old boy began to learn English with me this winter.
I haven't practised English for years since I quit my job.
I hope my boy could understand and speak some daily English after a period of study.
That's why I started this topic, to record and remind of myself.
Keep on moving from today on~~~.

When we played together after dinner. I tried to say sth in English instead of Chinese.
"What's this?"
"This is a car"/"It's a car"
( I asked and answered by myself, and i thought he could understand)
Then I asked him to repeat :
"This is a car."
"This is a red car."
"I have a car."
"I have a red car."
(My boy thought this was a game and quite enjoyed repeating after me. But his attention was still on his car game, not English. That's okay~ I didn't intend to let him feel that he is learning sth.).

I planned to spend 10-15 mins everyday to talk with him only in English.
The next day we continued on talking about cars.
"I have a red car."
"I have a yellow car."
"I have two blue cars."
"I have two green cars."
"I have three white cars."
"I have three black cars."
(He has some basic idea about how to say color and number in English.).

He doesn't like to go to bed every night and always wants to play for more time.
So every night around 8, he will ask me "Is it time for bed?"
Then I told him you can say"Is it time for bed?"
"Yes, it's time for bed." I replied.
And these sentences have the same structure:
"Is it time to get up?"
"Yes, it's time to get up."
"It's time for breakfast."
"It's time to go to school."

欢迎大家一起讨论,
我也是边摸索边自己教,
我们家小朋友语言天赋很一般,而且对外语有一点抵触情绪,大概是因为中文水平已经蛮好了;
要他开口讲另一种语言就会有压力。不过也是因人而已的,有些小朋友天生就很喜欢学语言~
Anyway, 要引导我们家的小子开口真不容易。
不过,如果可以成功让他在学习了一个阶段后慢慢能开口说说,也算是很有成就感的。.

When he wanted me to give a hand, I suggested him to say "Help me mum."
"Okay, let me help you."
"Thank you."
"You are welcome.".

When he is back from school,
I will ask him,
"Are you hungry?"
"Yes, I'm hungry."
"What do you want?"
"Cookies. / Candy. / Milk. / Snack"
"Here you are."
"Thanks.".

Teaching kids to learn English or a second language...
No matter what you do...You and you kids have to be happy while they are learning English. What I suggesting is this website - www.wordworld.com. The kid can learn English through games and they won't refuse it..
